Dave and Matt welcome John Frank Levey to the pod.

John has 2 kids, both grown and out of the house and is one of the most prolific Casting Directors in Hollywood. He has yet to cast Matt in anything. We discuss the casting process, discovering actors who would become mega-stars, how he's grown in his career, and more.

John Frank Levey is a four-time Emmy Award-winning casting director. He has cast such iconic television shows as China Beach, ER, The West Wing and Shameless, as well as dozens of other television series, miniseries, TV movies, digital series, video games and feature films. Levey is also a five-time winner of the Casting Society of America’s Artios Award and the recipient of its prestigious Hoyt Bowers Award, given for excellence in casting and outstanding contributions to the casting profession. Dave and Matt welcome Sara Haines (Mom, Co-Host of The View, and Host of ABC's The Chase) to the pod. We talk about her path to television hosting, how her kids feel about her celebrity (spoiler alert: they don't care), and how her athletic prowess far surpasses Matt's - which Matt finds very insulting. We spend a lot of time laughing about a lot of things. At least Matt didn't get dropped by Spider-Man on a live, and very national, television broadcast. You know what they say: "better to be dropped by Spider-Man than to never have been dropped at all."

Dave and Matt welcome Graham Sibley to the pod.

Graham is a dad with twin sons who are 4. He is also an actor and while he has a long list of credits to his name, recently he had the opportunity to play Abraham Lincoln in a History Channel mini-series of the same name. Graham, Dave, and Matt chatted about a variety of topics including the process of getting cast as Abraham Lincoln, raising twins through COVID, and quite a bit more.

Dave and Matt welcome Ben Portnoy to the pod.

He is a dad with a toddler son who is almost 2. While probably not MORE important to him, perhaps more importantly to the rest of us, Ben is the year-round director of the summer camp where Dave and Matt met, where Matt met his wife, and where Matt's daughters, and hopefully soon, Dave's daughter, all go during the summer. We had a great conversation about raising a toddler, summer camp, and the longest running joke.

Dave and Matt welcome Anna Davies to the pod.

She is a writer and editor who started her career in women’s magazines, working at Cosmo and writing for Glamour, Elle, Women’s Health, SELF, and others. She was also a successful young adult ghostwriter, penning 13 YA novels in her twenties, including five Gossip Girl books. When she was 31, she became unexpectedly pregnant during what was supposed to be a year long backpacking trip around the world. She came home, created her own content marketing business, and found a specialization in the personal finance and health insurance space, proving that pivoting in your career is always possible. Today, her daughter, Lucy, is eight, Anna is working (finally) on the half-finished novel idea she had begun when she was on that backpacking trip.

Dave and Matt welcome Kelly Park to the pod.  Kelly is one of the most sought after sitcom directors in Hollywood but has thus far refused to cast Dave (or Matt) in any of her work (our fingers are crossed that this will change in the near future). From Alexa & Katie to Bella and the Bulldogs to Station 19 to the upcoming new season of Fraiser, Kelly has done it all. We discuss careers and parenting, and in particular, raising resilient kids through the challenges of not always succeeding. We even covered public displays of embarrassment with our kids.
